1. What connection should we recognize between Jesus and Moses in Matthew’s Gospel in general, and the Sermon on the Mount (Matt. 5-7) in particular?

2. What does Jesus do with the law of Moses in applying it to citizens of his kingdom?

What does Jesus mean in Matt. 5:21-22 when he says, “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.’ But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire”?
