Discussion Questions: Exodus 18:13-27

QUESTIONS FOR DISCUSSION AT HOME OR IN GOSPEL COMMUNITY GROUPS

Sermon manuscript available at emmausrbc.org

  • Chapter 19 of our confession divides the law of Moses up into three categories: moral, civil, and ceremonial. Can you define these terms (see 2LCF 19 for help)? How are these categories helpful in understanding the law of Moses and its application to the New Covenant people of God?
  • What errors could result from failing to see the civil (judicial) and ceremonial laws of Moses as being unique to Israel?
  • You may be innocent as it pertains to the civil laws of this land, but no man is innocent as it pertains to God’s moral law. Discuss.
  • On the last day all men will stand, not before Moses, but Christ. He will judge according to the moral law. We will either have him as Savior or Judge. We had better have him as Savior. Discuss.
