Emmaus is a Reformed Baptist church in Hemet, California. We are a community of Christ followers who love God, love one another, and serve the church, community, and nations, for the glory of God and for our joy.
Our hope is that you will make Emmaus your home and that you will begin to grow with us as we study the scriptures and, through the empowering of the Holy Spirit, live in a way that honors our great King.

Emmaus Essentials classes are currently offered online Sundays at 9AM. It is through our Emmaus Essentials (Sunday School) that we hope to experience an in depth study of the scriptures and Christian theology. These classes focus on the study of systematic theology, biblical theology, church history, and other topics practical to Christian living.

At Emmaus we believe that God has given parents, especially fathers the authority and responsibility to train and instruct children up in the Lord. In addition, we believe that God has ordained the gathering of all generations, young to old, to worship Him together in one place and at one time. Therefore, each and every Sunday our children worship the Lord alongside their parents and other members of God’s family.

Please join us for this fourteen-week Bible study in which we will consider “what man ought to believe concerning God, and what duty God requireth of man” (Baptist Catechism #6). Please see the schedule below and contact Pastor Joe (joe@emmausrbc.org) if you are interested.
Who is this class for? Anyone, really. The target audience is those new to the faith and those preparing for baptism. That said, I trust that more seasoned believers would be encouraged by this study too – the more the merrier.
What will be covered in this study? We will work our way (rather quickly) through the 114 questions of the Baptist Catechism. As you probably know, I preach through the biblical doctrines summarized in the
Baptist Catechism in the afternoon worship service on Sunday afternoons. We work our way through the 114 questions at a pace of once every two years.
Why a 14-week journey through the catechism? One, to instruct prospective members in the fundamentals of the faith in a timely manner. Two, to instruct those desiring baptism in the fundamentals of the faith in a timely manner. Three, to cover the doctrines contained within our catechism at a pace that enables the learner more easily put the pieces of the puzzle together. There is a beautiful structure to our catechism. The gospel of Jesus Christ is presented in two different ways (in a redemptive-historical way, and in a law/gospel way). The structure of the catechism and the gospel are easier to appreciate when moving rather quickly through the individual questions, I think.
What will we do when we meet? I will guide the participants through two lessons each time we meet with a brief break in between. We will also have time to converse… I think it is important to have time to
converse. Participants will be encouraged to ask questions. I’m hoping that we will be able to slow down a bit to let these precious truths sink in. I’m also looking forward to getting to know those who attend better.
Why a class like this? Christ gave his church this mission through his Apostles: “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:18–20, ESV). My prayer is that the Lord would use this study to draw some to faith in Christ (to make disciples), to prepare those who profess faith for baptism, and to teach those already baptized to observe all that Christ has commanded. To state it differently, if we as a church are to be faithful to fulfill the great commission of Matthew 28:18-20, then teaching like this will need to be offered regularly.
Your Servant In Christ,
Pastor Joe
