Discussion Questions: Baptist Catechism 92

  1. What is the relationship between faith in Christ and repentance?
  2. In your own words, and in brief, what is repentance?
  3. Why does our catechism call repentance a saving grace?
  4. Why must repentance involve a true sense of sin?
  5. What does it mean to apprehend the mercy of God in Christ? Hint: The word apprehend has two meanings, and it does not mean “to catch” or “to capture” in this context.
  6. How much grief or hatred of sin must a person feel for repentance to be true?
  7.  To repent is to turn from sin, and to whom?
  8. Those who repent truly will do so with full purpose of, and endeavor after, new obedience. Will any succeed perfectly? What must they do when they fail?
